# WeebMac at YouTube - Receiving $1 million-worth of MacBook Pros - "What happens when you order 500 MacBook Pro laptops? They show up on a truck. In 15 pallets." Ultimate box opening pr0n. They cut the lock off the back of a semi-truck trailer, unload 15 pallets, open one of them, take out one MacBook box, and remove its plastic wrapper. But they stopped just a little too soon, before we see the Mac inside. Understandable, since that would risk losing something in the receiving dock, but disappointing for us pr0n lovers. [gizmodo] # Michael Rothwell - IMAP-IDLE - a plug-in for Mail.app 2.x in OS X 10.4.2 or later. Makes a second connection to your IMAP servers in IDLE mode, so that it gets notified of new messages (push email). Tells Mail.app to read mail whenever it gets a notification. Leopard's Mail.app 3.x is rumored to support this natively, so you won't need IMAP-IDLE in 10.5. Works for me. I turned off auto-check and new mail notifications, and created a Rule to play the new mail sound when a message arrives mentioning me as any recipient. This will get me fewer interruptions, but interrupt me right away when a message arrives that I actually might need to look at (I'm on a bunch of mailing lists). [hawkwings]
# Yahoo pipes is an Ajax web-app that allows you to sample, process, mix, and create RSS streams. Cool. [macmegasite]
# rogue amoeba - Nicecast allows you to broadcast audio over your local network or the internet. Worked well for me broadcasting my iTunes to iTunes or QuickTime Player on my son's laptop. $40. Demo version is fully functional but overlays static after 20 minutes of airtime. Check out the rogue amoeba home page for more, mostly audio-related, applications. [macintouch]
