# woosh3 at YouTube - mp3 player knot - a graphic example of one way to wrap your earbud cords around your old-style iPod shuffle (or nano) in a way that prevents tangles and won't easily come undone. [gizmodo] # Be A Design Group - Yellow Breaks its Silence with Apple - the color Yellow writes an open letter to Apple asking to appear on their products. It used to have a small role, in the Apple logo, but since that was changed from rainbow to gray, yellow isn't used at all. Humorous. [tuaw]
# rhester, jbrjake, et al - MediaFork continues development of Erit Petit and Laurent Aimar's HandBrake, which hasn't had a release since last April. It allows you to rip DVDs to MPEG-4 or H.264. Works on Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows. 12.7 meg universal binary installer. Runs, but I haven't tried ripping a DVD yet. [tuaw]
# MacResearch.org - OpenMacGrid is a distributed computing grid similar to SETI@home, built entirely of Macs using Xgrid. Contains instructions for setting up Xgrid sharing to use openmacgrid.macresearch.org as the controller and "macresearch" as the password. You can also submit a proposal to use the grid. And there's a Dashboard widget (shown below) to monitor the grid. Click here for Slashdot discussion. [/.]
# Mac News Network - NexTune to open up iTunes tracks? - there's a new music player, and CD trading service, for the Mac, and Windows. NexTune can play your entire iTunes music library, yes, even the DRM'd iTunes store purchases. Not a big deal really, since QuickTime knows how to unlock them. But it doesn't burn CDs, or interact with your iPod, so I see no reason to prefer it over iTunes, unless you want another way to buy CDs. [macnn]
# Roger Friedman at Fox News - Beatles Ready for Legal Downloading Soon - Neil Aspinall, the head of Apple Corps Ltd., told Mr. Friedman that all 13 core Beatles albums will soon be available for digital download, on iTunes, but not only on iTunes. He's not going to release the film Let It Be, however, because it's still too controversial. Nor will the 1969 compilation album, Hey Jude be part of the mix, because he forgot about it.
