Gmail Now Open, Second Life

Wednesday, February 14, 2007

# Google's Gmail web mail service is now available without an invitation. They're still calling it beta, but it's worked flawlessly, modulo a few short service outages, since I started using it very soon after it first became available. Best email client I've ever used, in 30 years of writing software for a living. [macminute]

# Michael Rose at The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Visit the virtual Apple Store in Second Life - I was finally motivated to do the 61.1 meg download (167.2 megs installed) of Second Life, and got a free account, just so I could visit this virtual Apple Store (Second Life link, useless if you don't have it). Check it out before Apple's lawyers force them out of business. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see it this morning, because Second Life was "unable to connect to a simulator." [tuaw]
