Bullet-Proof USB Drive

Saturday, February 17, 2007

# op777 at YouTube - Pretec I-disk bulletproof - this video shows a Pretec i-Disk Secure USB thumb drive working fine after immersion in coffee, and then being hit by bullets from 9mm, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and S&W .500 Magnum handguns. 9mm and .357 did no visible damage. .44 dented it. .500 blew it to bits. For comparison, they show a standard USB thumb drive being destroyed by a 9mm hit. [gizmodo]

# Tat Nishioka - Flightgear is an open-source cross-platform flight simulator. Requires RubyCocoa, which you can download form the Flightgear page. 165.2 meg download. Haven't tried it yet, but intend to. [devcenter]

# bradd at Mac OS X Hints - Force the Gmail widget to use https connections - ~/Library/Widgets/Gmail.wdgt/Scripts/GmailInteraction.js: change the definition of Gmail.gmailUrl to "https://mail.google.com/mail". I don't use the Gmail widget, just the notifier, which encodes the non-encrypted URL in its binary, where it's bloody hard to change without breaking.

# Gizmodo - Rubik's Cube For the Lazy - Hehe. I'll let you follow the link, while wondering what this could possibly be. [gizmodo]
