Google Web Toolkit

Saturday, March 3, 2007

# Google Web Toolkit (GWT) is an ingenious way to build AJAX web applications. You write your code in Java, against the GWT widget library, debug it in the Java runtime, then compile it to HTML w/JavaScript for delivery. Apps can run entirely in the web browser, or they can use an asynchronous remote procedure call mechanism to talk to server-side Java servlets. And it's open source with an Apache-style license. GWT has been around for a while, but last night was the first time I took a serious look at it.
