Getting Things Done, For Free

Saturday, March 17, 2007

# Bartek Bargiel - iGTD is yet another "Getting Things Done" implementation. This one can be organized by context or project, has a Quicksilver plugin, to make it very easy to add new inbox items, and can sync dated items with iCal. I'm not a big fan of to-do lists, but if you are, it's worth checking out. [macuser]

# kaboomerang - Actiontastic is another "Getting Things Done" implementation, which also has a Quicksilver plug-in, and syncs with iCal. It used to be shareware, but the author has recently decided to make it free open source. [tuaw]

# Buschfeuer via Apple - Fans - a dashboard widget that shows, with virtual fan images, the speed of your Mac's fans. Cute. [gazette]

# Ryan Raaum - Locomotive "is a simple tool to help you develop Ruby on Rails applications on Mac OS X. While those not choosing to set up their Rails development environment using Locomotive may spend hours frustrated by broken libraries, compilation errors, and incomprehensible incompatibilities, you will be able to jump right into Rails development the minute you finish downloading. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or an expert, Locomotive will save you time, reduce your stress, and eliminate (your rails installation related) exasperation." Open source. Apache license. Drag-and-drop install. 83.8 meg DMG. Downloading it as I write this. I've always been intrigued by Ruby on Rails, but haven't yet tried it. [tuaw]

# Dan Moren at MacUser - 10.4.9 adds a delay that might actually save you time - Mac OS X 10.4.9 delays the action of the eject key. You have to hold it down for a moment to eject, or hold it down for a moment with the control key to shut down. [macuser]
