# Apple Store - Apple TV is now shipping, in "3-5 business days". I don't have an HD television, so I won't be buying one of these any time soon, but if you do, you might be interested in this very easy way to play your iTunes downloads on your TV. [gazette]
# mc hot software - Tangle "is an addictive puzzle game of intersecting lines." $20. Demo playable for 60 minutes, then reverts to just first two, trivial, levels. Online leaderboard. Very similar to the free, Flash-based, Planarity, but Planarity doesn't mark overlapping lines, keep track of best times, or automatically notice when you're done. I find it more irritating than addictive, but maybe that's just my mood this morning. [tuaw]
# Jesse David Hollington - Bluetooth Proximity Detection on OS X - using Proximity and some AppleScript to make your machine automatically lock itself when your bluetooth cell phone moves away and unlock when it gets close again. I don't have a bluetooth cell phone, or any other bluetooth device except my mouse and keyboard, so I haven't tried this. Apparently, Salling Clicker does most of this without writing most of the AppleScript, but it didn't work with Mr. Holington's phone.
# I discovered one problem with using Omnigraffle Pro for reading Visio files. It only reads the new, XML-based, VDX format. It doesn't handle the old, proprietary, VSD format. ConceptDraw has a free Visio file converter service. It takes a few minutes for their service to send a vdx file after you sent it a vsd file, but it worked for me, on a 350K diagram (402 objects) of the entire large system I'm working on. I couldn't edit the result, but I could zoom and scroll it.
