Ajax Email, Done Good

Saturday, April 14, 2007

# Zimbra - Collaboration Suite for Mac OS X - an Outlook-style mail and calendar server with an Ajax web interface. Also has an iSync connector that allows Mac OS X Mail and iCal to provide the user interface. Try the hosted demo. Very nicely done. The Open Source Edition is "free in perpetuity". For pay editions offer additional features. iCal sync and MAPI support are available only in the Professional Edition, which costs $35/year/user. Open Source Edition binaries are available for Mac OS X and a number of Linux distributions, and source is available via SourceForge Subversion. Appears to be mostly Java, with JavaScript in the web client. [google]

# Black Cat Software - Atomic Mac OS X is an electronic periodic table, with lots of additional information about the elements. $25. Additional info available for only a few elements until you buy it (the undimmed ones in the screenshot below). [macminute]
